Cathedral cycle relay taking place

To mark a new cycling route linking all 42 English Cathedrals, a cycle relay is taking place with riders from all English Cathedrals.

The relay challenge started from Newcastle Cathedral and will take in all 42 cathedrals in 42 days.

The message inscribed on the baton is ‘Some days you need a hand…other days you are called to lend a hand.’

The Roffen Riders 2021 are the Rochester team and is made up of 10 riders. The relay will leave Southwark for Rochester on 15th June and will then depart for Canterbury on the 16th. If you would like to know more then please email colin.lovell@rochestercathedral.org

Cycle Route

The new cycling route links all 42 English Cathedrals. The route, which is nearly 2000 miles long, has come about thanks to a unique partnership between Cycling UK, the British Pilgrimage Trust, Sustrans and the Association of English Cathedrals.

Shaun Cutler, an entrepreneur and former company director, has worked with these partners to improve the welcome offered at cathedrals and aims to double the number of people visiting cathedrals by bike.

Cyclists can visit as many cathedrals as they like. The full route is published here.
